As an independent book publisher, I take a fully edited manuscript all the way through the publishing process to distribution by booksellers worldwide. I’ve published books for my wife Barbara and at least ten that I wrote.

Mostly, it’s a job I do for authors who either can’t interest a literary agent or a traditional publisher in their book or just prefer to do it themselves. They seek help from me because they prefer not to do all the work entailed in publishing or lack the skills to do it themselves. Either way, I’m available to assist you at a reasonable price.

I mean assist even if I do all the work. The author is the publisher and is the boss. He or she makes all the decisions, and I carry them out. The author wrote the book, owns all the rights and may proceed to self-publish without help from anyone. I appreciate the opportunity to assist the author to get published.

Companies like KDP Amazon, IngramSpark, Lulu Press, Draft2Digital and others share invaluable instructions to help authors self-publish. Despite all those instructions, it can be an arduous process, and authors often need help to publish their book. It’s important for authors to remember that these companies are not publishers. You, the author, are the publisher of your book. That’s why it’s called self-publishing.

I can handle everything to get your book out to the world or just help you do it yourself by only handling the aspects of the process you find problematic. Either way, you are the publisher.

I have a reasonable, flat price to handle every step from edited manuscript to worldwide distribution or just work with you on certain tasks to reach the same goal. The choice is yours and all the decisions are yours and all the rights. I want to help you succeed, so let’s assume you’ve either finished or nearly finished writing your book.

Self-publishing seems easier than ever. You’ve probably seen all the online ads asking you to “Submit Your Book,” or “We Want To Read Your Book.” Companies line up to publish your book. They don’t say it, but it’s loudly implied that if they like your book, they will publish it. And they will, if you pay them.

That’s exactly what I do. I publish your book for a fee. So, what’s the difference? Well, they have teams who meet with you to help improve your book. There’s nothing wrong with that. It may even be a good thing for some books. If you’re looking for a company to meet with you about your book and help you make it better, then this is probably the place. Naturally, teams and meetings cost, and you are paying. How much does it cost, that varies. Just one company I found on my search had three packages. The lowest price, basic package was almost $6,000.00 and the highest price package was just shy of $12,000.00. Some others could be more or less.

It could be well worth the investment. You decide that. Do you want to risk that much on a book with no assurance that it will sell? Book marketing is difficult even under the best of circumstances.

By now you’re wondering what I do differently. That’s certainly a fair question. First, there are no teams. All meetings are just for us unless you want to include someone else. Most meetings are on the phone or on Zoom, but we can meet at my office.

My company is Positive Imaging, LLC, a Texas corporation with two members, me and my wife Barbara Frances. If you hire me to assist you to self-publish or to handle the entire process, you get me. I have published over a hundred books since creating Positive Imaging, LLC, back in 2007. Online, I use two company names: Publishing Simplified and Bill’s Publishing, but that’s just for marketing. It’s always just me.
